With the summer fast approaching and spring feeling like summer, more and more of us are taking our dogs out and about with us to escape the winter hibernation we were in. This topic is also a great segway into Bruce Wayne’s first live news television appearance! 😉
On Memorial Day, May 29, 2017, I was honored to join The Pet Lady, Dana Humphrey, on our local Baltimore morning news station Fox 45 to go over some helpful summer Pet Safety tips. To highlight a few tips that Dana mentioned:
- Do NOT give your dog your BBQ table scraps! I know this is tempting. Trust me, Bruce Wayne has mastered the puppy eyes face. Your dog knows your weak against them, but you must resist! I know you’re thinking, “but, hey, Bruce Wayne is raw fed anyway and human food is better than dry kibble”. Yes and no. Yes, human food is better in moderation and in certain forms. Most of us, marinate or put dry rubs onto our meats before we grill, so even though it is meat, it is not prepared the same way you would for your dog. Also, as Dana points out, a lot of the scraps people tend to give their dogs are the fattiest parts of the leftover meats. That is a different topic for a different day. To keep it safe overall, just say no when it comes to table scraps. There are plenty of healthy dog treats that you can share with your dog ….. Again, in moderation. 😉
- Do NOT give your dog any type of alcohol. If I really have to tell you this, then you probably shouldn’t own a dog. #RealTalk Instead, why not give your dog a beer that they can actually have?! Yes, that actually does exist. A company by the name of Bowser Beer produces “dog beer”. In all actuality, it’s more like a beer gravy, but as you can see from the photo below, it resembles beer so that your dog can join in on the party.
One of the products that Dana highlighted is the Petmate Calmz Anxiety Relief System, which I will actually be receiving in a few weeks. Bruce Wayne and I met the Petmate team at the recent BlogPaws Conference and were lucky enough to have Petmate representatives agree to send us one for Bruce Wayne to review. Through acupressure, the harness is designed to help calm and reduce stress levels for dogs.
This was Bruce Wayne’s first time on television, ever! Sure, Bruce Wayne is used to a camera being in or near his face, but as you may have guessed, a newsroom looks a lot different than our hallway and dresser set-up.
I know I am biased when I say this, but he nailed it! 😉 You can judge for yourself by watching the segment below. As always, we believe and promote in kindness and an encouraging community. (Any negative comments will be deleted).
We would like to thank My Pooch Face for providing the custom portrait of Bruce Wayne! They nailed Bruce Wayne’s fabulous ears! In addition, thank you to everyone who has reached out, shared our news story and supported us along the way! 🙂
