If celebrating your dog’s birthday is over the top, then we are climbing to the top and making a scene! Yes, I celebrate Bruce Wayne’s birthday and yes, I even celebrate Bruce Wayne’s halfway birthday, birthday.
What is a Halfway Birthday, Birthday?
It’s exactly what it sounds like. It is Bruce Wayne’s 6 month point to his actual birthday. His actual birthday is February 5th. So, his halfway birthday, birthday is 6 months later, August 5th. Sound ridiculous? It truly is, but I fully embrace my Crazy Dog Lady ways and am always looking to celebrate my furry best friend!
What Bruce Wayne Got …..
I know, it’s not supposed to be about presents, but anyone who has a dog, knows how fun it is to spoil your pup! Since it is his halfway birthday, I tried to restrain the amount of gifts that I got him, while still indulging a bit.
One of the easiest birthday gifts you can pick up for your dog is a birthday themed subscription box. You do not need to start an ongoing subscription for a birthday themed box. You can solely buy one box and not make any commitments to future boxes. For Bruce Wayne, I chose to buy him a birthday themed box from The Dapper Dog Box. I knew that I would get high quality treats from The Dapper Dog and they certainly didn’t disappoint. We received a bag of CocoTherapy treats, which happens to be one of Bruce Wayne’s favorite treats. We were actually introduced to them through a previous box from The Dapper Dog. I guess you could say it’s like the circle of life. And how cute does Bruce Wayne look in his birthday themed bandana! 🙂
If you’re looking to get just a toy or two, look no further than BarkShop’s Lights, Camera, Bark collection! This collection is so ridiculously cute that I almost bought the entire collection. Don’t be turned off that BarkShop doesn’t sell your normal name brand toys. BarkShop falls under the BarkBox umbrella and has their toys made exclusively for them. They are high quality, creative toys that are sure to be a big hit with your dog.
Not as fun or “sexy”, I also got Bruce Wayne some new Bridle and Bone fly and tick spray and some healing salve. Every time I would put commercial topical tick medication on Bruce Wayne, he would become severely depressed and lethargic. I vowed to never put it on him again and find a holistic remedy. We are trying the spray out this weekend while we are out for our lunch. A product review will be up on our blog soon.
What Bruce Wayne Did ….
Like most men, the way to Bruce Wayne’s heart is through his Chi-Chi belly! 😉 Since we are leaving for Orlando in a week, I decided not to take him to a hotel and instead, take him out to lunch. The problem in Baltimore is that restaurants are not dog-friendly in terms of catering to your furry best friend. I’ve seen Instagram friends posting their pup with a doggie menu at their local restaurant. Unfortunately, that is unheard of in Baltimore. So, I had to improvise. Bruce Wayne loves salmon, so I decided to take him out for an extra special salmon dish.
I called our local Bonefish Grill to make sure they had an outdoor patio that Bruce Wayne was allowed to be on. Yes, some restaurants in Baltimore won’t even let a dog sit on their outdoor patio. 🙁 I’m looking at you Cheesecake Factory! I admit, it was kind of funny ordering a main dish for Bruce Wayne, but if any dog deserves it, it’s him!
I told the waitress it was for Bruce Wayne so that she would understand why I was so passionate that the salmon had to be thoroughly cooked through and was cooked plain. I know people like to add fancy spreads/marinades onto their salmon, but if you’re ordering for your dog, be sure to order it plain. Since broccoli is a healthy vegetable for dogs, I decided to choose that for his side dish.
As you can see below, Bruce Wayne absolutely loved it! He gobbled up the salmon and kept trying to go back for more. Be advised that if you, like me, have a small dog, you will have to ration the portion you give your dog.
After a fulfilling lunch, we went home and I let Bruce Wayne do what he loves almost as much as eating ….. Napping! We had such a great time that I’m looking forward to doing it again in another 6 months! 🙂 Do you celebrate your dog’s halfway birthday, birthday? Or what fun things do you do when you do celebrate your dog?
