As you may have heard or seen, we recently added some new additions to our family. 😉 If you haven’t heard, I invite you to read up on our recent ViaGen Pets cloned puppies additions. When the puppies reached their 8 week mark, we were invited to pick them up from the Syracuse, New York region.
Having never been to Syracuse, I looked online for some nearby dog-friendly hotels I could stay at. Now, I will be the first to admit that I have become a bit of a hotel snob. Having stayed at many Kimptons up and down the east coast, I’ve gotten used to luxury style resorts. So, when I looked for hotels near the Syracuse area, nothing really stuck out to me. I not only wanted something nice and luxurious for the puppies first night, but I also wanted a nice backdrop for their first professional photoshoot with a local photographer, Peek-A-Boo Portraits.
After speaking with ViaGen Pets about nearby cities I could pick the puppies up from, we decided on Buffalo. Getting to Buffalo was actually much easier for us coming from Baltimore. There were many nonstop flights to and from Buffalo and with a short 1 hour and 10 minute flight time, it seemed like a no brainer.
While I have never been to Buffalo, I was surprised with the selection of dog-friendly hotels available in the area. After many days of researching Buffalo hotels, I decided to stay at the Reikart House. Not only is the Reikart House a dog-friendly hotel, but the Reikart House is a beautiful, newly constructed hotel.

From the moment you walk in, you feel like you’ve been transported to another older, yet modern era. The doorman that greets you is as friendly as they come and his attire is certainly an eyecatcher.

While the front desk is small and quant, it actually ties perfectly into the vibe of the hotel. Yes, these old school keys, pictured below, actually do hang behind the front desk receptionist, however, I am sad to report that these are not the actual keys used to open the hotel rooms.

The lobby of the hotel is among the most comfy and relaxing hotel lobbies we’ve been to. It is spacious and makes for an incredible backdrop for photos. Obviously, since we picked up the puppies in late December, the hotel lobby was Christmas themed and absolutely gorgeous.
Since we flew in the day we were picking up the puppies, we actually arrived much earlier than the normal check-in time. Luckily, our suite was vacant the night before, so the staff was able to quickly freshen up the room and allowed us in early.
Being that I am sadly so used to New York City hotel prices, when I booked with the Reikart House, I realized that not only could I afford a nice suite for Bruce Wayne and the puppies to stay in, but I was able to book the Presidential Suite. This Presidential Suite was amazing! It had a large king bedroom with a fireplace and small sitting couch. The fireplace came in handy, as this is where I put the puppies playpen overnight to keep them extra warm and cozy.

The suite had 2 full bathrooms which was nice since my friend, Kristen, who took Harvey Dent, came up and stayed with us. This allowed her to have her own full bathroom within the living room area where she slept.Â
The living room area had a tv, small sleeper sofa, mini fridge and Keurig machine for all you coffee lovers out there.
While the room was certainly luxurious, I cannot stress how impressed we were with the hotel staff. One of the perks of staying in the Presidential Suite is your own personal butler service. Granted, since we were so preoccupied with the puppies, we did not utilize this service, however, throughout the evening, the hotel butler came by our suite twice bringing us sweet candy treats and a handwritten welcome card.
Obviously, the point of our trip and much of our time was spent loving on our adorable puppies, but I was honestly surprised at how much I loved the City of Buffalo and the Reikart House Hotel. We loved it so much that we are looking to go back to celebrate the puppies 1st birthday in late October. If you are in or around the Buffalo area, please stay tuned to our Instagram page for the exact dates we will be back up in your area. We love meeting our social media friends! 🙂
