It’s been a while since I’ve written a formal update on my Viagen Pets puppies aka The Others. The Others are 1 as of today (Friday, 10/26)! Holy Batman, can you believe that?! Time flies when you are raising puppies. It feels like just yesterday I received a call from Melain of Viagen Pets telling me that not only were the puppies born, but there were 5! Yes, 5! Because there were more than I had originally expected, as many as you know, 1 of the puppies, Harvey Dent, went to live with a nearby friend, Kristen. I had actually planned to give another puppy to our Veterinarian, Dr. Joe Zulty, but his wife said no more dogs, so we kept the other 4. In the end, it worked out perfectly, as I could not imagine our life without 1 of The Others.
I feel like so much has changed since our last update, so let’s start with the basics.
The Others very much take after big bro, Bruce Wayne. On average, they sleep more than they care to play. They are also anti-social like him. Unlike Bruce Wayne, I did try to socialize the pups more. However, living in Baltimore County, there aren’t many opportunities to mingle. We tried going to Petco’s puppy playdate, but all the puppies were large dogs (i.e. golden retrievers) and that scared The Others so much that we left within minutes. We’ve went to the dog park many times, but again there’s always been a lack of small dogs.
They also sound just like him. It’s nearly impossible to tell them apart if you hear them bark but don’t see who is actually barking. With the exception of Peter Parker, occasionally, he howls and it’s adorable.
This is what I’m asked most often about The Others, “do they have the same personality as Bruce Wayne”? For this, I would say no. Each puppy has a bit of their own personality, which makes for a lot of fun. But, I’ll get into detail about this later in this post.
It’s also a little different since The Others are growing up in a pack, whereas Bruce Wayne grew up as an “only child”.
Life in the Day of a Clone!
On average, The Others get up and start their day around 8:30 – 9:00 am. Once awake, each puppy goes to the bathroom, thankfully they are pee pad trained. Right afterwards, they all, including Bruce Wayne, eat breakfast.
After breakfast, The Others wrestle for a bit and then it’s time for their mid-morning naps. Much like Bruce Wayne, nap time is a must for The Others, which usually occurs 10:30 am – 1:30 pm. Lunch time for The Others is between 1:45 pm – 2:00 pm. Lunch usually wakes up The Others enough to wrestle for another hour or so. Then, you guessed it, right back to napping.
The Others will start stirring again around 6:30 pm and play, wrestle and chew until dinner around 7: 45 pm. After dinner is when The Others are most active. Again, much like Bruce Wayne, evening is their biggest burst of daily energy. This is when they will do constant zoomies around the room, attack your feet as you walk and just have a lot of fun!
After a long day of playing and napping, The Others are in bed and fast asleep by 10:30 pm. Every once in a while, they push the envelope and live on the wild side staying up till 11:00 pm! 😉 All 4 of The Others sleep in their playpen. Originally, they slept in the smaller sized playpen, a gift from their litter mate, Harvey Dent, but they quickly outgrew it and needed a larger upgrade. Medium is the perfect size to give The Others enough space to stretch out but not too much that it becomes playtime for them.
When the weather permits, we will go on a nice walk or find some fun activity to get into. The best way to see what The Others are getting into on a daily basis is by watching our stories on Instagram. I’m constantly posting stories of them …. Maybe too many sometimes!
With all this being said, they really have grown and changed so much since our last update. It’s been a lot of fun watching them grow into their own “identity”.
Clark Kent is still my biggest puppy. He’s the leanest but he’s also the tallest and longest. Yes, he’s long … daschund long! It’s kind of become a running joke among us. Clark Kent is also the pup with the biggest personality. He is a complete ham, demands attention and always has us laughing. He and Peter Parker have become a bonded pair. They are each other’s best friends. 🙂 But, he has this weird obsession with picking on Tony Stark. 🙁 Clark Kent is the puppy that Bruce Wayne seems to play with most, which falls right in line with the Batman v. Superman theme.
Tony Stark is the sweetest pup in the pack! There’s something about the look in his eyes that is such a pure innocence and sweetness that it’s nearly impossible to deny him when he flashes his sweet puppy eyes! And, despite Clark Kent bullying him, he is obsessed with Clark Kent. Try and catch him if you can, Tony Stark is always running away from me when I call him or walk over to him. He is constantly playing a game of tag.
Peter Parker had earned the nickname “Sweet Pete” because he was just so sweet. Now, it’s an ironic joke. We often call him “not so Sweet Pete” these days. Don’t get me wrong, he can still be a complete sweetheart, but these days, he likes to instigate fights between The Others. For example, if you’ve ever watched a UFC fight, Pete would be one of the coaches yelling out tips and being a hype man without actually stepping a paw into the octagon. As soon as any of The Others start “arguing”, Peter Parker springs into action, running over and barking all around the two pups that are arguing. But, despite his “aggressive” ways, he’s the first one to come lay in my lap.
Wade Wilson is my most independent pup. He is a cuddler but doesn’t “require” attention from anyone and can often be found laying in a bed by himself chewing away on a toy. We often joke that he’s the “old man of the group” as he often is the first to fall asleep and has a morning routine that as soon as he gets up, he pulls a toy out of a toy bin and starts chewing before he goes to the bathroom. Wade Wilson is the most recognizable pup by his fabulous mohawk and Disney heart on his side!
I can honestly say it’s been the an amazing, fun, interesting and insightful year. Another question that I am often asked is if I would clone Bruce Wayne again? I absolutely would! It would definitely have to be many, many years down the road, but there’s no doubt I would do it all again. Having puppy Bruce Wayne’s has been a dream come true and I cannot stress how important it is to preserve your dog’s DNA with Viagen Pets if you are on the fence about possibly cloning your dog. You can always say no and decide not to clone, but once your dog has passed over the Rainbow Bridge, you can’t go back in time.
The Others will be having a belated birthday party in DC next month and we have many other adventures planned that we invite you to enjoy with us. I will be posting another blog post after their party with a recap, but as you guessed, I’ll also be storying their day on their Instagram account. Until next time, The Others send their grinchy love your way! xoxo
